Michael Ian Black and Missi Pyle have been cast in Slash, an independent coming-of-age comedy currently shooting in Texas. Written and directed by Clay Liford (and based on his short of the same name), the film stars Michael Johnston as a teenage author of erotic fan fiction. Hannah Marks co-stars with Sarah Ramos, Peter Vack, Jessie Ennis, and Matt Peters also in the film.
After being snubbed last year for Mr. Turner, maybe Timothy Spall’s chance at Oscar has arrived: the actor is in early talks to star as the late Sir Ian Paisley in The Journey, a fictional account of the unlikely real-life friendship between political enemies Paisley and Martin McGuinness, nicknamed the “Chuckle Brothers” in Northern Ireland. Colin Bateman and director Nick Hamm are writing the script, and the role of McGuinness has not yet been cast.
