As the world watches Scotland on Referendum Day, we’re celebrating Scottish connections to the 1916 Easter Rising.
Here is Margaret Skinnider, an organiser for Glasgow Cumann na mBan who bravely fought in the Easter Rising and was wounded in battle:
Some words from James Connolly, born in Edinburgh to Irish parents in 1868. He maintained his connections with the Scottish trade union movement even after his moves to the United States and Ireland.
A look inside the Connolly Room at Dublin Castle, where Hames Connolly was held prior to his execution in Kilmainham Gaol, in a makeshift hospital room similar to the one showed below:
